Choughs visit to The Lizard Wireless Station

News

24th April 2024

Choughs class stepped back in time to visit the wireless radio station at Bass Point. We discovered how important this small building on The Lizard was in the history of communication and how Marconi (the father of wireless communication) proved there that a wireless message could be sent.

The children then used their geography fieldwork skills to sketch important features of this landscape before the small trek back home again. We had a wonderful time seeing the artefacts and even typing out our names in Morse code. Thank you so much for everyone who helped us today with our visit, including our lovely parent helpers, as well as Ann and Jeff from the National Trust.
